Synopsis

“In an ordinary residential building, a horrific case of mutilation took place. Even the seasoned criminal police captain Peng Zhao Lin was shaken by the gruesome scene. What tormented him most was the memory of once passing the suspect, Deng Li Gang, in the corridor without realizing who he was. Deng Li Gang and his accomplices had traveled across the country committing heinous crimes—kidnapping, extorting, and murdering “nightclub girls.” Despite the task force’s relentless pursuit across multiple provinces, the gang managed to vanish without a trace.

Through illegal means, the criminals erased their pasts and began living peaceful, seemingly normal lives. But Peng Zhao Lin could never find peace. Haunted by nightmares of the victims’ screams—like helpless lambs led to slaughter—he carried his guilt for years. One day, a seemingly insignificant clue reignites the trail of the long-cold case, and Peng Zhao Lin embarks on a thousand-mile journey in pursuit of justice and the murderers who escaped it.”
